IAMWD started its journey on 3rd or November 2009, by Shajed Evan. It’s goal is very simple, “Generating awareness and gather resources for freelancers in IT sector“. After around 3 months of operation with 150-200 visitors each day, I am trying to get some review from my visitors, to enhance best possible experience for my readers.
I am not a recognized person neither very successful in my career yet but as an entrepreneur I am trying my best. When I see people on internet with their happy face describing their success stories I get encouraged to do even more than before. IAMWD is my first ever blog and I want to make it one of the top in the industry, but I can not do it alone. I will definitely need valuable comments from my little group of visitors.
I think most of my visitors are a target group of IT specialist. As an programmer, web designer, web usability specialist or even as a writer is possible to get some comments or review about “I AM WEBSITE DEVELOPER : BLOG” ? Please leave your valuable comments in the comment field and if possible don’t forget to invite your twitter followers by retweeting this post so that I can have more visitors to submit their review.
You may criticize, leave some expert advice, tips, give warning about any technical mistakes, talk about its usability or experience. These will give me a clear overview about my blog and I willable to make it even better according to your suggestion or criticism.
It is always difficult to make space for a new-by within a very competitive place. But inspiration or guideline may be useful to carry-on. It is your time to reply.
When I first start using Google chrome which was introduced search engine giant Google, by end of 2008; I didn’t get much impression about it. It was fast for sure, but as a developer Firefox was feeding all my requirements with its rich extensions and plug-in. After a long gap I again downloaded The Google Chrome to find out difference of browser capability to one of my newest site and I got stunned. It is fast and came with new useful extensions. As a loyal Firefox user, I had gone though few articles to find out the difference and ongoing battle between Firefox and Chrome. Let’s have a look what Tech giants find out about this new browser,
When first formed, a review by Tech Herald was “Will Google Chrome shape the way Web browsers are developed and designed? It is too early to tell, but Google has certainly come up with something appealing and unique. Will Chrome replace Internet Explorer or Firefox? Perhaps not in its present form, and not for a very long time. Overall, Chrome is a killer little application to have and offers a nice break from tradition when surfing the Web. While there’s plenty of room to for growth and improvement, the first beta release is impressive.” – Tech Herald
Uses rate of this is growing faster to fastest, within 1 year it crossed Safari. By the end of December 2009, 9.8% share for Chrome and 3.8% for Safari; just thinking what will happen after this year (Source W3Schools Browser Stat).

It has smart search engine detection tool.
Simple elegant interface.
Increasing rate of extensions as its source is free for all, developers are getting chances to show their innovative ability.
Downloads is bit easier, you will get track of your download instantly.
It remembers your most visited links and make it easy to find out, reduce searching time.
Are you Google Holic? Chrome is your first option.
There are lots of features included with this new growing browser and I am quite confident people will adopt it more in future. It is true it still have lacking in supporting extensive featured plugins that Firefox has, but it is just a matter of time for Google to close that gap. You can find some important links which might help you to know more about Google Chrome.

Current internet trend and its development pace gave website developers lots of opportunities to show their talent to visitors however they like to. Moreover new tools are there, which can make your sites really attractive without giving much effort. From early 2009 when developers are concentrating more on using css3 by haring its best optimized features with less afford, we still need to think about its backwards.
When we develop any website we try to make sure that our website is compatible with all the major browsers of the world has. Website developer are already acknowledged about the compatibility of web standards adopted by web browsers, but they also know the problems occurred by Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer world’s most used browser so far. Though current trend of browser uses statistics are changing, but IE is still celebrating their majority in browser market place. According to w3schools statistics total browser statics of IE uses rate is combined to 37.2% on December 2009; where IE 8 holds 13.5%, IE7 12.8% and finally classic Internet Explorer 6 holds 10.9% of users. Firefox is in the leading position with 46.4% which is preferred by developer most. How about those 10.9% IE 6 users? Are we forgetting them from our customer list? Internet Explorer version 7 and 8 works very well with CSS 2 and overcame with all the bugs that IE6 used to have.
Though Microsoft took care of those bugs, we should keep in mind that all those OS comes with default Internet Explorer 6. Especially for corporations who still didn’t get enough time to upgrade their self to IE 7 or IE8 surfing with Internet Explorer 6. That’s why website developers have to concern about design pattern to insure maximizing browser support as each of these browsers implement their own rule set specially for CSS.
This part will focus on alert issues that we should deal with Internet Explorer 6, while styling your website or your wordpress blog with reference to proper resources.
Alert them to upgrade.
The best possible way is to alert your IE6 visitors to upgrade themselves to latest version. Other than that; offer them to switch to a browser where your site fits better. There are many different tricks to do that, but I will discuss about the one I am using. The script I am using was downloaded from ThatGrafix.com.
1. First you will need to add this code at the top of your document, for wordpress definitely at the top header.php file: [sourcecode language="php"] $ie6 = "MSIE 6.0"; // detect browser $browser = $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'];
// yank the version from the string $browser = substr("$browser", 25, 8);
// html for error $error = "
Alert: It appears that you are using an out dated web browser Internet Explorer 6. This website Strictly recommend browsers such as Google Chrome or FireFox to insure best user experience. While you may still visit this website we encourage you to upgrade your web browser so you can enjoy all the rich features this website offers as well as other websites. Follow this link to Upgrade your Internet Explorer
After a long break I am back to “I AM WEBSITE DEVELOPERS” with my new post. Actually was busy with my exams and assignments.Last few week I found lots of good post around the web especially for freelance developers and blogger’s. Most of these post are relating with web design techniques, promotion, optimization, business strategy and most of all giving awareness for your freelance activities. I would like to share some of these posts with you. Here we go:
From last one month I am concentrating on different issues about promoting my blog. It is really hard to promote a new, fresh blog, moreover if the blogger doesn’t have much recognition it can be hardest in many cases. After spending huge time on different resources and blogs I am digging deep on better promotional aspects as much as I can. It all depends on which position you are starting your blog? What is your current social value? How many people follow you? Most important is how about the contents as well as what is the prospect of your blog, how it’s going to be differ than others? Well, lots of questions to follow-up at a time aren’t it? I will write about this topic later very soon with resources but right I am after something else.
In this post, I am going to write about a wordpress plug-in which may help you to promote your blog. It named “WP GREET BOX”. Yes, already known to lots of bloggers, even one of the biggest blogging networks like Smashing Magazine was using it. What is it really? What it does? OK let’s have a look:
WP GREET BOX – What is that?
WP GREET BOX is a plugin for wordpress, in simple sense it welcomes new readers. Yet simple, but it does have some dynamic ways to greet your blog visitors. It place a welcome box at the end or beginning of the post and reminds you to subscribe to the blog’s RSS.
The best feature it has is the dynamic version of greetings according to tracked visitors from different social websites. Which means if your visitors are referred from Google, Digg, Stumbleupon or even from Twitter this greeting box will show their customized subscriber links according to referred sites. Moreover it gives you option to see related posts those are already listed in Google search.
I am placing some of it’s features bellow:
Show a different greeting message to your visitor depending on the referrer URL. You can add/edit/delete/disable these greeting messages as you choose.
Show a different greeting message to your visitor depending on the referrer URL. You can add/edit/delete/disable these greeting messages as you choose.
Ability to keep displaying the greeting message until after the user click close for the first time. After that, the greeting message will not show up or that user anymore.
Ultra customizeable greeting message box (with CSS) allowing you to prepend/append HTML around the greeting message box.
Cache compatible mode makes use of AJAX to display greeting messages in the frontend. This makes WP Greet Box compatible with other caching plugins (such as WP Super Cache) and WPMU.
* AJAX administrative interface that uses nonce verification to discourage hackers.
Currently the following referrers are installed by default, but you can easily create your own if your favorite referrer is not on the list!
Upload the plugin to your plugins folder: ‘wp-content/plugins/’
Activate the ‘WP Greet Box’ plugin
Go to the Options -> WP Greet Box admin panel to make any customizations.
To test it is properly working type any of the keyword which will show post link of your blog. After clicking that you can find out a Google icon is in place with greetings “Googler”. Remember you can change the welcome message in option panel.
I think this plugin may help me a lot. As a new blogger social icons and subscribing functionalities helps you a lot to promote your baby blog. Let me know if you have any other good plugins that you have already used. And yes don’t forget to share!!
Cascading Style Sheet started its journey in 1970 with the name SGML. As HTML grew, web developers feel wider demand of defining styling capabilities to meet business functions. Now, while we are approaching toward 2010, rapid web tech changes are highlighted to everyone. We know that CSS is the presentation semantic of HTML or markup language like XML, Do we know CSS3 better than its other version? Moreover a big battle is going on between protective web developers and with developers who accept new changes and challenges is that, is time has come to adopt CSS3, while one of the major browser like IE don’t have its support at all?
Yes there are conflicts. We should remember every new technology which tries making changes to its previous trend, face difficulties. In case of CSS3 I believe, will make its way very soon to all the browsers and developers will adopt it as they are already doing with CSS 2.0. Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome has already given its support to CSS3 standard, only question remains with Internet Explorer. Hmm as a website developer do you like IE? You know your answer but as a common internet user Internet Explorer is the first option because it comes up with Windows for free, moreover that’s the only browser installed and I think it is not IE8 may be IE6 or IE7. In this case all out css3 is definitely not for you. Because it will not work on IE at all, in many cases your site will be a piece of disaster to these viewers, unless you don’t define a separate CSS especially for IE. Getting the right choice for CSS version depends on your target market. Most of the users of my blog use Firefox, then chrome, Safari and finally IE. Though my number of IE visitors are very less I made a substitute CSS for them, so that it runs fine in front of their blinking eyes. So decision is up to you, remember you as a developer have lots of option, “which one is best?” you know that better than others.
“All about CSS” – with this title I am just trying to list some useful post about CSS3 I have found so far from different blog post. They helped me a lot and I believe it will help you to enhance your CSS3 skills.
